WishlistAbout this project
A non-commercial notebook dedicated to Montblanc's most characterful pens.
After years of collecting vintage pens, the focus naturally settled on Montblanc — especially pre-1959 models and the modern Writers Edition series. This site organises research, catalogue notes and collector insight into one place so you can compare designs, production details and personal impressions at a glance.

A yearly tribute to the world's great writers.
Since 1992, Montblanc's Writers Edition has celebrated literary figures from Hemingway and Agatha Christie through to Jane Austen and Goethe. Each edition is produced for a limited time and carries design cues taken from the author's life, era and most important works.
Some pens quietly reinterpret a classic Meisterstück shape with subtle engraving, while others lean into bolder storytelling — marbled resins for Oscar Wilde, Gothic architecture for Victor Hugo, nautical details for Jules Verne. On this site you'll find those design references alongside production numbers, price ranges and a collector's view on how each piece fits into the wider line-up.
How the ratings work
Ratings shown for each pen are intentionally subjective. They balance design, writing experience, historical importance, relative rarity and current collector desirability. A low production number does not automatically mean a higher score, and market prices are treated as just one signal among many.
Use the scores as a way to compare pens within the Writers Edition universe, not as financial advice. The notes behind each rating, visible via the ? icon on every card, explain the reasoning in more detail.
